On 24th October 2022, Qatar University launched an Arabic learning course on edX (e-learning platform). So here is your chance to learn Arabic for free from Qatar University.
This course aims to help you learn the basics of the Arabic language required for a simple conversation without having to study Arabic grammar first. The well-designed semi-genuine video conversations, practice worksheets and hands-on exercises accommodate your different learning levels and styles.
This design objective is to cover the four communicative skills required to learn a foreign language — reading, writing, listening and speaking.

You will also learn numerous words and become familiar with the a-b-c’s of the Arab culture, as well as the best ways to approach Arabic speakers. You will be introduced to some types of non-verbal communication that are so popular in the Arab region that you are expected to know them.
Since this course is a doorway to the Arabic language, it will teach you the shapes and sounds of the Arabic letters as well. Arabic is a member of the Semitic language family. This means that the directionality of Arabic is right to left in addition to many other characteristics that make Semitic languages unique and beautiful.
The supplemental videos about the Arabic alphabet will teach you the shapes of the Arabic letters and provide their sounds and their generation.
